Waltz Lace Cowl
Waltz Lace Cowl
This versatile lace cowl is knit in one piece in the round, with the main body being worked in a simple garter stitch lace, edged with an easy ribbed border. Since both stitches are reversible, there is no right or wrong side or top or bottom edge.
Due to the interaction between the stitch patterns, the cowl will bias very strongly before blocking. Even with aggressive blocking, a certain amount of bias will remain.
This pattern is designed for a single-ply yarn with long, slow color transitions, such as Knit Picks Chroma or Crystal Palace Yarns Mini Mochi. Designed for smaller circumference items such as socks, these tend to produce definite, hard-edged stripes when worked in long rows. Working alternate rows with the head and tail of the yarn ball subtly blends the colors and mutes the stripe edges.
Special techniques are used for the cast on and bind off because it is important that they are firm, but stretchy and resemble one another.
Charts and written instructions are provided.
This pattern has been tech edited and test knit.
