Hidden Leaves Cowl
Hidden Leaves Cowl
I wanted to design a cozy cowl that was attractive on both sides and had a bit of shaping for a better fit at the neckline. This lovely reversible stitch pattern features hidden leaves that make a secret promise of spring to the winter-weary wearer. You can wear it with either side facing out, depending on your mood.
The cowl is knit in the round and begins with a provisional cast-on. The simple lacy pattern uses a logical progression that is easy to understand and creates gently rippling edges. The shaping is achieved by changing the needle size twice. Both edges feature an I-cord bind-off for a clean finish.
Techniques Used:
• Decreases: k2tog, ssk
• Duplicate stitch (to finish off the bind off seamlessly)
• I-cord Bind-off (includes knitted cast-on)
• Increase: yo
• Knit, purl
• Knitting in the round
• Provisional Cast-on over spare circular needle or waste yarn
This pattern includes charts, written instructions, and links to references for all techniques, including the Provisional Cast-on and the I-Cord Bind-off.
This pattern has been tech edited and test knit. It includes yarn management tips for working with a single ply yarn, such as Diadem.
