I wanted to make something cozy and colorful to keep my aunt warm and to remind her of her tropical home in Colombia while she was visiting her sons in the Bay Area one winter.

Starting with a provisional cast on, this cowl is knit in the round using a simple lace pattern. Because the ruffles on each end are knit on from live stitches, no stitches are picked up, and once you bind off the second ruffle, you are done—without any sewing!

The generously sized tube can be folded, twisted and pinned in several different ways. Since both sides are attractive, wear it however you please.

Two sizes of 24-inch (60 cm) circular needles are required. The provisional cast on can be worked over a third cable needle. An alternative set of instructions is provided in case you have only two circular needles or you want to use more or less yarn
than is specified.

The simple and easily memorized lace and ruffle stitch patterns use M1L, M1R and yo increases and k2tog and ssk decreases.

This pattern includes charts and written directions, has been tech edited and test knit.
